Is your family name on this list?

As well as the remaining 10 acres of inner London woods, Southwark Council plans to destroy all graves over 75 years at the Camberwell Cemeteries to sell off as new burial plots.

These are the first ones to go, at Camberwell Old Cemetery:

Allison  Bryant  White  Bradshaw  Macdonald   Stone  Butler  Roe  Bird  Scott  Greig  Baker   Haynes  Snell  Webb  Perry  Harris  Taylor   Poncett  Hall  Collins  Hossack  Minahan

Southwark Council wants to dig up graves with these names in Camberwell Old Cemetery and remove their monuments.

The deadline for these families to contact the Council is 15th March 2016.

This was just the latest phase of a massive grave destruction on an unprecedented scale.

From Victorian tombstones and headstones, to graves as recent as 1941, Southwark Council has decided to dig up all graves over 75 years old to sell new burial plots.

The Council calls this 'reuse' - but these graves are alreay in use, by the people who have been laid to rest, in perpetuity.

Save Southwark Woods is campaigning to preserve family and social history and the woods and natural heritage and beauty of the Camberwell Cemeteries.
